Convention Coverage

In Line for Hall H? San Diego Comic-Con returns on July 21-24, 2022

The legendary convention will once again take place in the Convention Center of the second largest city of California this week. Among many cast and crew members are Bitsie Tulloch, Keanu Reeves, Patrick Steward, Anson Mount and William Shatner.

The greatest celebration of comic and pop culture in the world

What started with 300 attendees in 1970 has become the largest convention of its kind. Nowadays around 130 000 people from around the world travel to the West Coast of the United States to rejoice in entertainment and arts. At the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) you can spend up to four days in the company with comic creators, authors, film and television actors, directors, producers, writers, location managers, designers, and other pop culture enthusiasts from all genres.

There are around 17 separate rooms in the convention center used for hundreds of activities like panels, film screenings, exclusive previews, workshops, costume competitions, and autographs. The exhibition hall with its 460 000 square feet is filled with artwork, collectibles, and toys. The biggest panels are held in Hall H (approximately 6100 seats) and Ballroom 20 (approximately 4900 seats). To get inside Hall H people queue for hours or sometimes even camp overnight in the nearby Marina park. In 2019 their endurance was rewarded with a Star Trek panel or an extensive Marvel showcase of upcoming productions.

How to get tickets for San Diego Comic-Con

Obtaining tickets for SDCC can be a nerve-racking challenge on its own. Due to the enormous interest and the lack of space, there is currently less than a 10% chance to attend the event. Unfortunately for 2022, no badges are available anymore. Check out our article how to prepare for the next badge sale for SDCC 2023 here.

Offsite adventures in San Diego

But even without attending the SDCC itself, San Diego is definitely worth visiting. You can explore many Comic-Con-related activities which have dramatically increased Downtown over the last years.

Here are some highlights among the offsite attractions in 2022:

  • The Comic-Con Museum hosts an exhibition about Spiderman
  • The interactive Netflix Experience “The Gray Man.”
  • The Severance Activation by Apple+ at the Hard Rock Hotel

Needless to say, we are very excited to see how San Diego will be transformed and what Comic-Con is going to have in store for us.

Stay tuned for more news and coverage coming up in the next days.
